When we bring a cat into the house, we usually expect to get a kind and affectionate pet that will delight us with its purring. However, there are dangerous cats. These include certain breeds that, without proper upbringing, can pose a threat to children and adults.

Why are domestic cats sometimes dangerous?

To understand where the aggression in domestic cats comes from, we need to look at their roots. The thing is, the distant relatives of our beloved pets are predators. This means that a certain level of predatory aggression is genetically ingrained in them.

Dangerous cats pose a threat to children and adults

Add to genetic predisposition the characteristics of a cat's personality - love of freedom and independence, capriciousness. All this gives us a very explosive mix that, without proper upbringing, can get out of control. A cat is not only the embodiment of natural grace, but also very refined cunning.

The most dangerous cat breeds

Here are the breeds that are considered the most dangerous:

  • Siamese. Owners of Siamese cats usually have scratches all the time. If you offend a Siamese cat, it won't immediately attack you. It will hold a grudge and seek revenge when you are most vulnerable.
  • Maine Coons. They are quite lazy, but if you provoke them, these fifteen kilogram bodies can cause serious injuries.
  • British Shorthairs. They may seem plushy, but if you try to cuddle a British Shorthair, you will quickly regret it.
  • Savannahs. This is a downsized version of wild servals, so their aggressive roots are understandable without further explanation.

Do not think that all the breeds mentioned will necessarily exhibit aggressive behavior. In most cases, they will become loyal friends to you. If a particular breed is on this list, it simply means that it requires special attention.

As you can see, not all cat breeds are equally harmless. Before getting a pet, study all the characteristics of the breed, carefully consider whether its character suits you. Even if you choose the kindest breed, train and educate your pet so that it does not show aggression.
